Floor classes at Rose City Senior Center are at 10:45 am on Wednesdays and Fridays, classes are 60 minutes. We focus on balance, mobility, strength, and alignment through the classical postures using a Viniyoga approach. Classes are moderately challenging, I offer modifications so that all participants can make the class work for what they need.
Chair yoga is at 12:15 on Wednesdays and is also 60 minutes. Postures and movements are seated or standing near a chair, and can be adapted for anyone who wants to stay seated. The eldest members of the class are 90 and 95 years old this year. This experience is appropriate for many conditions that limit range of motion, stamina, or strength. Yoga is a great way to build energy, strength and flexibility following surgery or other medical treatments.
For either class: If you are under a doctor’s care, please notify your medical staff that you plan to join us. I do not need a permission or a phone call, I just want your care providers to know you are in the class, and if they have any concerns, to communicate to you about it.
Both classes are adapted for health issues that may make yoga a challenge for anyone over 55 to attend. if you are not sure if it is right for you, contact me hathayoga(at)snet(dot)net or attend a class to try it out.
